Because Delano’s culture is rich with a diverse population, it’s only natural that there be a variety of festivals to celebrate the unique cultures of these ethnic groups.
Each year in early May, Delano has a four-day celebration at Memorial Park to commemorate Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo Fiestas Incorporated not only helps put on the the annual festival but also does a number of worthwhile activities to benefit Delano.
Delano has a significant Filipino population. The year 2006 marked the 100th anniversary of the first Filipinos coming to America. A three-day festival in July honoring the Filipino culture, called Philippine Weekend, has been an annual celebration in Delano for over 30 years.
In October, Harvest Holidays is celebrated throught the city. The fall festival starts off with a golf tournament, softball tournament and 10k run. The Grand Marshal and Queen barbeque is held on Saturday after the Kiddie Parade. The Grand Parade is on Sunday with carnival rides, games and food cumulating 4 days of fun and music at Memorial Park.
